Arthritis, rheumatism, loose bowel, chronic constipation,
indigestion, allergies, asthma, diabetes, headache,
impotence, menstrual pain, high blood pressure, high blood
cholesterol, depression, and many other health problems are
often the result of our modern lifestyle. Since we live in
an environment that is drug oriented, stressful, and often
polluted, we are constantly ingesting toxins through
breathing, eating, drinking, and use of modern drugs,
tobacco, and alcohol. These toxins upset our body’s natural
balance and weaken its immune system. Along with mental
stress, they also contribute to the increased production of
toxic free radicals in our body, which, if not removed, will
damage our body tissues over time. There is evidence that
arthritis and heart diseases are caused by free radicals’
damage to connective (joint), vascular, and heart tissues.
To alleviate these conditions, over-the-counter or
prescription drugs often help, but they also cause new
problems, due to their toxic side effects. Certain herbs
with specific therapeutic properties also help. However,
like modern drugs, these herbs often only relieve symptoms
and they are toxic when used on a long-term basis.
Therefore, instead of taking a drug or an herb to treat a
particular illness, it is far more sensible to take steps to
prevent it from occurring in the first place. An adjustment
of one’s lifestyle (e.g., stop smoking or excessive
drinking) and eating a balanced diet are a good start. But
these are not enough. We need to supply our body with extra
healthful nutrients to help it right itself in a natural
way, so that we will be healthy again and stay healthy.
Nutrients in some natural foods and many traditional Chinese
tonic herbs inhibit the formation of free radicals or remove
them after they are formed and thus can prevent or reverse
these conditions. Examples of better-known nutrients with
these properties include certain vitamins (A, C, & E, etc.)
and minerals (e.g., selenium, germanium) from fruits and
vegetables. Other, lesser-known ones include flavonoids,
lignans, saponin glycosides, polysaccharides, sterols,
triterpenes, and polyphenols that are present in traditional
Chinese tonic herbs/foods. These include ginsengs (Asian
and American), astragalus root, lycium fruit, licorice root,
schisandra berries, reishi mushroom, cured fo-ti (zhiheshouwu),
Cherokee rosehip, Siberian ginseng (eleuthero), tienchi
ginseng, aloe vera gel, turmeric and Job’s tear. Besides
antioxidant properties (e.g., increasing superoxide
dismutase activity), many of these phytonutrients have also
been shown by modern science to have other beneficial
effects, including immunoregulating, anti-inflammatory,
anti-allergic, anti-atherosclerotic, hypotensive,
hypoglycemic, hypolipemic (e.g., lowering cholesterol),
liver protectant, inhibiting monoamine oxidase (improving
memory), antitumor, antimutagenic, and antimicrobial
(especially antiviral). When properly prepared and
formulated, these tonic herbs/foods help normalize one’s
body functions.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, we are healthy
when our yin and yang are in balance. When this balance is
upset, we have health problems. To maintain or restore this
balance, tonics like those contained in PhytoChi®
are often used. These tonics don’t relieve your arthritic
pain rapidly the way a steroid drug or a strong herb does,
though it may do so slowly in other still-unknown ways.
They act like vitamins and minerals slowly to normalize your
body functions. They balance your yin and yang to keep you
healthy and don’t cause additional health problems as do
most modern drugs and many Western herbs intended for
short-term use to treat specific illnesses. Furthermore,
these Chinese tonics have been safely used for hundreds to
thousands of years as true dietary supplements (in tea,
soup, wine, etc.). In contrast, many herbs for treating
specific illnesses have no such prior history of safe use as
true supplements, especially when they are used in purified
chemical forms that no longer have the properties of the
original herbs from which they are prepared.
PhytoChi® has been specially formulated by
Dr. Albert Y. Leung for maintaining and promoting general
good health. It is manufactured in his own plant, under his
close supervision, using only genuine high-quality extracts
of herbs/foods that have a long history of safe use as
tonics. There are no other herbal drinks like it.
For your convenience, PhytoChi® is now
also available in tablet form - PhytoChi®
Caplets.
